What the file shows

William K. Dalton held a first-class league-and-labor headright issued by the Liberty County board in 1838; in 1853 the GLO issued a certificate for its unlocated balance of 6,934,800 square varas. The right passed to James W. Henderson, who sold it in Grimes County in October 1855 to M. D. McKissick for $300. J. B. and B. R. Tyus entered the land in March 1857 and deputy surveyor Milton Wright surveyed it on Mill Creek on the Navarro-Ellis line in April 1857. The patent issued to McKissick as assignee in March 1859 and was forwarded to B. R. Tyus that November.
