Fire departments

Twenty-one volunteer fire departments keep stations in Navarro County, and Hubbard keeps its own across the Hill County line. Each has a page: where the station is, what the state's directory records, and what the state has funded this year. In an emergency, call 911.

How they are paid for

Navarro County contracts with each volunteer department year by year. The agreement the commissioners court approved on 25 March 2024 paid $200 a month for each fully working fire truck, tanker or response vehicle, up to four, for rural fire and medical first response. The agreement.

The contract before it ran out on 30 September 2023, and the departments went two months without one before the court extended it in December. NBC 5, 1 December 2023; FOX 4, December 2023.

In the Kerens school district a second source pays too: Navarro County Emergency Services District No. 1, approved by voters on 6 November 2007, levies a property tax for fire service and contracts with the Kerens, Powell and 287 Richland-Chambers departments. Hubbard is served under Hill County Emergency Services District No. 1.

The state helps buy trucks and gear through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program, run by Texas A&M Forest Service; each page lists what its department was awarded in fiscal 2026. The departments belong to the Navarro County Volunteer Firefighters Association. Corsicana has its own paid department, Corsicana Fire Rescue.
