What the file shows

In June 1855 the Navarro County District Court ordered a 320-acre Mercer's Colony certificate (No. 44) for the heirs of Meady White on the proof of administrator Harvey White. Locator Alex. Beaton entered it in February 1857, deputy surveyor J. M. Eliot surveyed 320 acres west of Corsicana in May 1857, and the patent issued to the heirs on 13 February 1858.

The certificate

Mercer's Colony certificate by district court order (3rd class), No. 44, 320 acres, District Court of Navarro County; J. M. Riggs, Clerk, D.C.N.C.; Henry J. Jewett, District Judge, Corsicana, 7 Jun 1855.

At the Spring Term 1855 of the District Court, Harvey White, administrator of the estate of Meady White, deceased, took the oath and made the proof required by law of the citizenship of Meady White; ordered that a certificate issue to the Heirs of Meady White for 320 acres to be located on any vacant land within the colony of Charles Fenton Mercer and his associates, which they may locate, transfer or donate.
