What the file shows

Lot Wilson received Mercer's Colony certificate No. 304 for 320 acres at Corsicana on 20 April 1850, and deputy surveyor David R. Mitchell located it on the East fork of Brier Creek that June. Wilson sold the certificate and land to Alexander Beaton for $100 on 5 September 1853, and the patent issued to Beaton as assignee on 17 March 1854.

headright (Mercer's Colony certificate), 3rd class, No. 304, 320 acres, John M. Crockett, Commissioner of Mercer's Colony, Corsicana, Navarro County, 20 Apr 1850.

Printed form: Lot Wilson, having taken the oath and made the proof required by law of his citizenship, is entitled to 320 acres to be located on vacant land within the limits of the colony of Charles Fenton Mercer and his Associates.
