What the file shows
Dina Clark received Mercer's Colony certificate for 640 acres at Corsicana in April 1850, and deputy surveyor David R. Mitchell laid out her land about six miles west of the town that June. She applied to renew the survey in September 1854, and patent No. 507, Vol. 9, issued to her on 20 September 1854.

Entitles Dina Clark to 640 acres within the limits of the colony of Charles Fenton Mercer and his Associates, she having taken the oath and made the proof of citizenship required by law

- The certificate face is numbered 285 and dated 19 April 1850; the field notes call it No. 285 dated 19 June 1850, while the jacket and index give certificate No. 20.
- A woman holding a headright certificate in her own name, and patented to her directly.
- A cancelled certificate of record by Philpott dated 1 Oct 1850 is struck through and replaced by a fuller one on the same page.
- The field notes were surveyed in 1850 but only renewed and filed in September 1854, days before the patent.
