What the file shows
Elijah Sanders got a 320-acre Mercer's Colony certificate at Corsicana in April 1850, and David R. Mitchell surveyed it on Brier Creek, about four miles northwest of town, that June. Sanders gave R. N. White, the county clerk, a $500 bond to convey the land once patented, and the patent issued to White as assignee on 29 December 1852.
The certificate
headright, Mercer's Colony certificate, No. 229, 320 acres, John M. Crockett, Commissioner of Mercer's Colony, Corsicana, Navarro County, 18 Apr 1850.
Entitles Elijah Sanders to 320 acres within the colony of Charles Fenton Mercer and his Associates, he having taken the oath and made proof of his citizenship; he may locate, transfer or donate it.
