What the file shows

Robert Ray was certified by the Montgomery County land board on 16 March 1838 as a married man arriving December 1832 entitled to three-fourths of a league and a labor, on payment of fees by land type. He sold the certificate to McKissack in Grimes County for $150. Deputy surveyor William L. Browning located it on Chambers and Waxahachie creeks about 10 miles northwest of Corsicana on 10 May 1852, and it was patented to McKissick as assignee on 10 September 1852.

Proved that he arrived in the country in December 1832, is a married man, and is entitled to three-fourths of a league and labor of land, on condition of paying $3 per labor of irrigable land, $2 per labor of temporal (arable) land and $1 per labor of pasture land contained in the survey
