What the file shows

Joseph H. Powell held a colony certificate, No. 48, issued by the Navarro County District Court on 15 April 1857. Deputy surveyor J. M. Eliot located 120 acres of it on the waters of Richland Creek about six miles northwest of Dresden in February 1858. The field notes had to be renewed through a certified copy in 1859-60, and Powell himself received the patent on 11 July 1861.
