What the file shows
Jacob Allbrachet's 960-acre Republic of Texas army bounty certificate, issued to his assignee Henry Teal in February 1860, was located in seven separate Navarro County surveys between 1872 and 1874, six by county surveyor A. S. Howren and one by John W. Irwin. Tracts range from 30.9 to 262.5 acres, from the edge of Corsicana to Rich Land creek. All seven were filed on 8 October 1874 and patented to Teal on 10 December 1875.

Certifies Henry Teal, assignee of Jacob Allbrachet, entitled to have surveyed 960 acres of vacant public domain as bounty land for services in the Army of the Republic of Texas, under 'An Act for the relief of certain persons hereinafter named', approved 13 Feb 1860. The service dates are left blank.

Also in the file
- Certificate was issued in 1860 but all seven surveys were made in 1872-1874 and patented in December 1875, fifteen years after the warrant.
- Six surveys are by county surveyor A. S. Howren in 1873-74; the 48-acre survey is by John W. Irwin in Feb 1872 and was renewed twice on J. M. Eliot's application (28 June 1873 and 29 June 1874). The 1874 renewals on abst 40 and 41 both write the current year where the previous year is meant ('since ... June 1874').
- J. M. Eliot carried chain on four of the seven surveys and applied for the renewals, suggesting he was the locator working for Teal.
- All seven sets of field notes are filed on the same day, 8 Oct 1874, and patented the same day, 10 Dec 1875.
- The jacket's first page shows the acreages 116, 48, 214, 30.9, 132.6, 262.5, 156 with patent numbers 398-404; there is no filing wrapper for abst 40 (116.33 ac) in the file.
- Survey 35 gives its distance as about 7 miles N 74 E of Corsicana; the 30.9-acre survey is only 3/4 mile from town.
- Survey 38 note: the State's survey No. 2 calls 1000 varas where Howren measured 900.
- Pressler marked the 156-acre survey (abst 35) 'Not Surrounded' and the other five wrappers 'Surrounded'.
