What the file shows
Robert Ferguson earned a 320-acre bounty certificate for three months' service in 1836, issued at Houston in April 1838. Deputy surveyor B. J. Chambers located it on Chambers Creek north-west of Corsicana in October 1840, next to the Marsh, Rice and Ellsworth surveys. The patent issued on 2 June 1851 to William Henry as assignee.

Served faithfully and honourably three months, from 18 July(?) 1836 to 18 October 1836, and honourably discharged; entitled to 320 acres of bounty land

Robertson County (now Navarro County), southern waters of Chambers' Creek, about 5 miles N 10° W of Corsicana; 'in Navarro County', 'southern' and the distance are interlined over a struck 'a branch of Trinity River'

- The patent went to William Henry as assignee, but there is no deed from Ferguson to Henry in the file.
- The certificate's approval reads 'June 3d(?) 1851', a day after the patent date of 2 June 1851.
- The location 'in Navarro County ... about 5 miles N 10° W from Corsicana' is interlined over a struck 'a branch of Trinity River' - added after 1846, since the survey was made in Robertson County in 1840.
