Silver City
Navarro County, Texas
Silver City sits at the junction of State Highway 31 and Farm Road 55, two miles north of Purdon in west central Navarro County. It was established before the Civil War; one account of its name says a German merchant there refused Confederate currency and demanded payment in silver. Population was about twenty-five in 1940 and has held near a hundred since 2000.
