Pursley

Navarro County, Texas

Pursley sat on Farm Road 642 between Richland and Pin Oak creeks off Farm Road 709, eight miles from Corsicana in southwest Navarro County, in country the Handbook of Texas describes as fine timber and fertile fields. It was probably named for W. H. Pursley, its postmaster; the post office ran from 1872 to 1907. Population held near forty through the back half of the twentieth century, down from eighty-six in 1945.
