Cryer Creek

Navarro County, Texas

Cryer Creek sits at the junction of Farm Roads 2930 and 1126, four miles north of Barry in northwest Navarro County. William Melton settled it in 1845; a store opened in 1878. It peaked near two hundred people in 1892, then declined once the Texas and St. Louis Railway bypassed it for Barry in 1907, its post office moving there the same year. Population has held near fifteen since 1970.
