Chatfield

Navarro County, Texas

Champion Chatfield set up a trading post in an oak grove on the San Antonio and Shreveport trail in 1838, six miles east of Porter's Bluff, and the town took his name. It had five hundred people and a daily stage to Rice in the 1890s, and forty in 1990.
