Angus
Navarro County, Texas
Angus sits on the Union Pacific Railroad and Interstate 45, six miles south of Corsicana. It was founded in 1871 by A. Angus, who put up the first hay press in that part of Texas; a church followed in 1872, a school in 1874, and a post office from 1877. Population was twenty in 1911 and twenty-five in 1945, then grew through the late twentieth century, two hundred forty-four in 1987 and three hundred sixty-three in 1990, reaching four hundred fifty-seven as of the most recent count.
