Rice

Rosters read from a town's own kept history and from public records: who held an office, and when, or who was named in one photograph's own caption. Where a roster reaches the present, it says when its current names were last checked.

Postmasters since 1971 · Mayors on record

Postmasters since 1971

Postmasters and officers-in-charge on the Postal Service's own record. The record does not give the office's opening date, and its first name, Miss Verna Gregory, carries no date. The Postal Service notes that not every office's record before 1971 is listed, so this is the record as reported, not a full roll. One officer-in-charge is listed without a name.

Mayors on record

Rice's mayors named in records that could be read. Rice voted to incorporate on 2 December 1912, and its first mayor is named two ways: J. W. South in the city's own history and two other accounts, G. W. Harper in a 1912 officers' list quoted in a family memoir. The accounts disagree and this page does not settle it. Not a complete succession. Corrections and additions are welcome.
